Analysis of land use conflicts in the village of Lomalta in the municipality of Vélez - Santander

Abstract

This research study focuses on the province of Vélez, located in Santander, Colombia, where various aspects of the region were examined, including governance, education, municipal development, public works and aqueduct services, highlighting the integration of ecosystem services in land use planning, a key factor for the sustainable development of the region. On the other hand, land use conflicts in the Lomalta hamlet are examined, using data from the IGAC and the ARCGIS tool to perform a geospatial analysis, where it was found that although the IGAC records do not show land use conflicts, in order to obtain a more precise vision, a field visit was made to the Lomalta village, where roads in good condition, diverse crops, livestock, communal equipment and ecosystem services were observed. Finally, two land use conflicts were identified and adjustments for more effective agricultural planning were suggested in order to provide a detailed vision of the situation in Vélez, highlighting the importance of territorial planning for sustainable development.
