Editorial process
The journal, with the consent of the author(s), may make any editorial changes deemed necessary to provide the article with the greatest possible clarity, precision, and coherence. Therefore, authors are encouraged to write with the utmost rigor, using proper spelling, well-structured and clear paragraphs, and accurate punctuation. Redundancies in the text and the repetitive use of abbreviations should be avoided.
Submission Reception
Authors must submit their manuscripts through the OJS platform in accordance with the guidelines established by the journal.
The journal’s editorial process consists of two independent phases: evaluation and publication, described below.
Evaluation Phase
The article evaluation phase consists of the following three procedures:
1. Initial Evaluation
All submitted articles undergo an initial evaluation by the Editorial Committee. At this stage, the article is reviewed to verify compliance with the journal’s basic requirements, such as subject matter, length, proper citation, and adherence to the author guidelines. In addition, the specialized Turnitin software is used to detect possible cases of plagiarism. The results of the Turnitin similarity report will be communicated to the authors as part of this procedure and will be stored in the journal’s OJS platform.
The journal accepts only original and unpublished articles. Manuscripts that have been previously published in other journals or media outlets, or that are currently under evaluation in other editorial processes, will not be considered. Likewise, the use of previously published data requires an original analysis that provides new perspectives or results. Articles that pass this initial evaluation are sent to at least three external reviewers, who independently and anonymously assess their quality. If the article does not meet the journal’s standards, the author will be informed of the reasons for rejection.
2. Peer Review
Articles are reviewed through a double-blind peer review process managed through the OJS platform. External expert reviewers, both national and international, evaluate each article in depth, considering aspects such as the relevance of the topic, methodological rigor, clarity of presentation, and originality of the contributions. These reviewers provide a verdict and detailed recommendations to assist the editors and the journal’s Editorial Committee in making a final decision. The detailed evaluation criteria used by reviewers may be consulted through the following link.
3. Final Decision
The journal editors are responsible for making the final decision regarding article publication, taking into account the evaluations provided by the expert reviewers. In cases of discrepancies between reviewers’ opinions, the assessment of additional independent reviewers will be requested. If the controversy persists, the final decision will be made jointly by the editors and the Editorial Committee.
Peer review may result in one of the following five decisions. In all cases, authors will receive a detailed report containing the reviewers’ comments to guide their future work.
- Acceptance. The article meets all requirements and may be published without modifications.
- Publishable with modifications. Minor revisions are required to comply with the journal’s standards. Authors have 15 business days to complete the requested revisions.
- Resubmit for review. Substantial modifications are required. Authors have 60 business days to revise and resubmit the article for a new evaluation.
- Resubmit to another publication. The article does not meet the journal’s requirements but may be suitable for another publication.
- Not publishable. The article does not meet the journal’s quality standards and will not be considered for publication.
Publication Phase
The publication phase of the articles consists of the following three procedures:
1. Copyediting
The text undergoes stylistic revision to ensure coherence and uniformity of language. Authors have 8 business days to review and approve the corrected version.
2. Layout and Design
The final version of the article is prepared, including layout and design formatting. Authors have 8 business days to review and approve the preliminary proofs.
3. Declaration of Originality and Copyright Transfer
All authors must sign a form declaring the originality of the work and transferring publication rights to the journal under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License. The journal reserves the right to review any published article, even after publication, in order to ensure the maintenance of quality standards.
