Abstract

This research article examines the main characteristics of the political aspects and the social situation in Colombia during the period of the National Front. It also analyzes the formation of the Nation-State, considering the cultural traits present in the construction of Colombian political culture during the National Front and its relationship with the current political and social organization. Subsequently, it discusses the impact of the consequences of the National Front on the contemporary situation of the Colombian State, in relation to the non-international armed conflict, bureaucracy, clientelism, concentration of power, among other aspects. To address this topic, the bibliographic or documentary method is employed through a qualitative research approach. It is concluded that during the period of the National Front, Colombian society became radicalized in terms of political ideology, which has led to a marked polarization that persists to this day. This has resulted in the permanent division of the population, exclusion, and the perpetuation of patterns of political violence typical of the mid-twentieth century.
