La internacionalización de la educación superior como una política generadora de desarrollo local sostenible

Abstract

Globalization requires education and particularly higher education, the challenge to deeply rebuild their regional and national education policies, encouraging the internationalization of higher education with which the use of information technologies be stimulated, mastery of foreign language, student exchanges, international internships, as instruments of enlargement and universalization of education. The internationalization of higher education does change the role of student this should be at the forefront of the latest advances in science, made with quality, critical, reflective and proactive capacity that is competitive in the face of our productive sector, to be generator of sustainable development from the successful experiences that are known throughout the world stage, it must be in the current situation a relevant producer of knowledge, innovative, and professional capable of being generator development for the local context. The article identifies concepts and the main thesis underlying the need to implement educational policies to start to Colombia as a destination for quality higher education, highlighting the results achieved with the experience of student exchange between the Free University Sectional Cartagena and Northwestern Estate University of Louisiana in the United States.
