This paper presents a brief review of the evolution of concepts, practices, approaches and roles of human management in organizations. It also identifies its strategic relationship with competitiveness, the solution of complex problems in the organization, describing the most important practices for the generation of wealth and competitiveness such as intangible resources such as knowledge and innovation. It also argues, based on the Resource Based Theory of the indispensable role of management in business success.
