This study examines the limitations of Colombia's legal framework in addressing the growing fentanyl crisis and its consequences. Through a documentary review of national and international regulations, the primary legal gaps in confronting the illicit manufacture, trafficking, and consumption of fentanyl are identified. A qualitative approach based on documentary review and scientific literature was employed. The results conclude that the current legal framework has been insufficient in containing the problem, evidencing a gap between regulations and reality. The study argues for the need to strengthen the legal framework, implement prevention programs, closely monitor the evolution of the problem, and reinforce international cooperation to combat this phenomenon through effective information networks. This research contributes significantly to the understanding of the fentanyl problem in Colombia and provides valuable inputs to improve the legal and policy response to this transnational public health crisis.
