Application of queueing theory in the library service of an educational organization in Cartagena – Colombia.

Considering the set parameters in the theory of Colas which allow to describe both the dynamics and efficiency of service stations by several yielding measurements, this paper is aimed at analyzing the service structure working functioning of Ramón de Zubiría library at college Fundación Universitaria Tecnológico Comfenalco in Cartagena city. The methodology consists of a descriptive and exploration research with a nonexperimental – transversal design applying a probabilistic sampling for an infinite population. The analysis allows to conclude that due to the high rates of 95% visitors to the library general system the service system the service dynamics is good. Finally. It has to be said that the studies subsystems such as photocopy machines, the lockers and the media library work perfectly having in the waiting for service one client with a maximum waiting time of 4,1 minutes.
