Abstract

In the context of today's society, this article highlights the importance of obtaining and maintaining
a solid financial education. Research shows that the lack of financial knowledge has led to problems
such as excessive debt and insufficient savings. However, personal finance has been evolving and
increasingly adapting to individual and social needs. It is important to emphasize the significance of
early financial education. Parents play a crucial role in instilling sound financial habits, such as
saving and responsible spending. Additionally, it is proposed to include economic education in
school and university curricula. The study also highlights the relevance of financial education in
specific professional fields. For example, in medicine, residents and fellows often lack financial
knowledge, affecting their personal and professional well-being. It is suggested to incorporate
financial education into their training to improve their debt management and retirement planning.
The interaction between education and sustainable financial behavior is of utmost importance. The
need to incorporate sustainability principles into financial education is emphasized, promoting
practices that support long-term economic and environmental goals. The research employs a
methodology based on the "tree of science" metaphor using the Scopus database. This approach
identifies root pieces, structural elements (trunk), and recent advancements (leaves). The
bibliometric analysis shows an increase in interest in the topic, with a peak of publications in 2023.
In conclusion, the article argues that financial education is essential for achieving long-term
financial prosperity. Its inclusion in various educational and professional fields is recommended,
adapting it to individual needs and promoting sustainable financial practices.
