Abstract

This article shows the results of the behavior of the demand for blood components in a hospital of the Cauca Valley blood bank; which will allow a subsequent study to provide the basis for the planning and control of the entire blood supply throughout the region of the Valle del Cauca.  In this first phase is considered the characterization of the behavior of the demand for red blood cells, which will be estimated through the collection of data from a lender of health services demand and that demand is not suited to any type of probability distribution identified through tests of goodness of fit , by which attended the discrete simulation through empirical distributions to develop forecasts most suitable for each type of blood group; concluding that the hemocenter should place orders every two weeks: for blood A-: 2 units, A +: 43 type units, AB -: 1 single unit, AB +: 2 units for  B -: 1 unit, B +: 8 units, O -: 4 units and finally to O +: 45 units of blood.
