Abstract

This research aims to analyze the acculturation processes of production and marketing of Wayuu handicrafts in Riohacha, it was determined whether the symbolic representations that reflect the Wayuu cultural values are substituted in the processes of production and marketing of crafts, the effects of intermediation were identified supported by public and private institutions in the preservation of cultural patterns of these tissues in order to propose strategic guidelines to counteract the effects of acculturation processes production and marketing of Wayuu handicrafts in Riohacha. This research is descriptive field, is based on a non- experimental research, cross-sectional, the study sample is comprised of one hundred fifty (150) of the Wayuu weavers in the city of Riohacha, technical and instrument data collection was direct survey, consisting of twenty-four (24) items with tree possible answers each, based on the Likert scale. We concluded that these artisans represent in their tissues the typical dance, traditional food, death, life, evil, good, caste, animals, nature and spirituality; brokering products are finding through wholesalers, retailers and individuals who market these tissues. Exist little support from entities such as indigenous affairs, the Government Department, Texas Petroleum Company, Cerrejón institutions, Concepcion Salinas, Artesanías de Colombia and the National Government, acculturation to counter that is showing in the process of production and marketing of Wayuu handicrafts in Riohacha.
