Ethical principles

The journal accepts as its ethical foundation and good editorial practices the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing, published in June 2015 by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE; available at: http://publicationethics.org/. Consulted 10 February 2017), which establish in relation to authorship and contributions that “an author must assume responsibility for at least one of the parts that make up the work, should be able to identify those responsible for each of the other parts, and it would be desirable for him to trust the capacity and integrity of those with whom he shares authorship ”. For this reason, the journal Biociencias requests that all authors describe their contributions in the manuscript sent for publication and use the following criteria to establish authorship:

- Participation with important contributions to the idea, statement of the problem and design of the investigation or in the collection of data, or in the processing, analysis and interpretation of the information.

- Draft of the manuscript.

- Approval of the final version of the article

Authors who meet these criteria must complete the Assignment of Patrimonial Rights for authors and the Declaration of Conflicts of Interest form. In addition, the person who submits the manuscript for publication will be identified as the guarantor of the work in its entirety and with him communications related to the editing process of the work, including peer review, will be established; This will be in charge of preparing the order of mention of the authors and identifying each one of them including their institutional affiliation and the name of the group, if any.

Regarding the Acknowledgments section, Biosciences accepts to include there those collaborators who do not meet the authorship criteria but who were in some way linked to the processes of elaboration and execution of the project or elaboration of the manuscript, e.g .: those who only do help technical or participate in the writing of the manuscript, in the design of the study, data collection or analysis, or in the department heads that have collaborated in a general way. In this section, financial and material aid from people or institutions must also be declared. The author guaranteeing the work must make public the identity and contribution or function of the people and institutions that have provided this type of aid (in the case of people, the corresponding institutional affiliation must appear). In all cases, collaborators who are not authors must authorize their appearance in this section in writing.

On the other hand, according to the same principles, the editorial team of Biociencias:

- Accepts or rejects a document for publication based solely on its importance, originality and clarity and on the relevance of the study for the journal's field of competence.

- Prioritize those documents that question or are contrary to works previously published in the magazine.

- Does not exclude studies with negative results

- Strictly maintains the confidentiality of the documents received

- Assumes responsibility for corrections when necessary.

- In case of suspicion of inappropriate behavior, the editors will first contact the authors, before doing so with the institution involved.

- Other particular situations of the editorial process will also be based on the same principles and recommendations.

- It ensures that the identity of human beings from whom data or photographs have been taken integrated into the documents sent for publication is kept unpublished.
