Endovascular repair, abdominal aortic aneurysms, aneurysmsAbstract
Abdominal aortic aneurysms are a frequent, usually asymptomatic alteration of
multifactorial origin. The risk of rupture and death is directly related to the size
of the aneurysm; in the cases of patients requiring surgical repair, this is also
related to the type of procedure performed, with lower morbidity and mortality
observed in patients treated with endovascular repair. A descriptive and
retrospective study is presented, with the objective of characterizing the patients
and the surgical and morbidity and mortality results of the endovascular repair
of abdominal aortic aneurysms, in the General Clinic of the North, during the
period 2015 - 2016. It is concluded that the Endovascular treatment of AAA is
an effective and safe procedure at the local level; our experience resembles that
described in the literature; demonstrating that the results in terms of morbidity
and mortality and hospital stay are considerably higher than those of open
surgery
