Program for the prevention of occupational accidents caused by biological hazards in public service companies public utilities according to the regulatory framework in Colombia

Abstract

Workers engaged in solid waste collection in collection companies are exposed to different kinds of hazards that put their physical integrity at constant risk. One of the main hazards, is the exposure and/or contact with biological type substances such as body fluids or leachates, which can trigger different reactions; this makes it necessary to have a protocol for both prevention and monitoring of such situations, which is limited to the waste collection sector, since the activities performed are very different from those of other types of companies. With this fin, the Colombian regulations in charge of regulating these contingencies will be studied, while it will be identified whether or not there is a rule that standardizes the procedures in the aforementioned sector.
