Shared custody in Colombia: legal mechanism to protect the right to equality of parents and minors to have a family.

In Colombia, the institution of the family and the right to have a family has been constitutionalized and legal protection mechanisms have been created that seek their effective protection, taking into account the equality of all its members and the best interest of the child. However, it is of the utmost importance to take into account that the essential core of the society named in the higher norm can be affected in a number of opportunities, mainly by the separation of the parents who have been attributed the personal care of the children under equal conditions.
