The Special Forces in Colombia have command units such as the Jungle Command, considered a lethal special force currently at an international level, it is seen as the most lethal in the world, which is made up of highly trained men trained by the SAS. GIGN and Green Berets of the United States receive training around the world and are recognized on a geopolitical level.
To know a little more about the special forces of the Marine Corps it is necessary to make a historical connotation, this connotation allows us to know the beginning of the special units and the names of commands, which were born in the jungle in the year 1956, beginning to the visible flotilla and the amphibious commandos that were born in an assertive way for the institution, and were consolidated in the year 1970 when historically the Southern Naval Force developed the first operations plan for the jungle commandos. In 1972, the strengthening and competencies of the Colombian National Navy provided the ability to continuously develop military operations to support the coast guard, anti-narcotics inspections and training, such as UNITAS operations. Regarding the genesis of the capacity of the special forces in the Marine Corps, its naval origin dates back to the creation of the Group of Urban Anti-Terrorist Special Forces currently known as GFENC, strategically located in the city of Cartagena Bolívar, this unit was born due to excellent results and institutional needs, subsequently the ARC COFEAR Special Forces Command and the group of Urban Special Forces were also born in 2004. In 2003 there was only the organized special unit of the Marine Infantry Special Forces Battalion , standing out for being the pioneer in close combat and urban maneuvers, was created due to the increase in terrorist actions carried out by groups of drug traffickers, narcoterrorists, guerrillas and organized crime in different cities of the country, which gave rise to the need After having a specialized unit to counter terrorist threats in urban and semi-urban areas, the Marine Corps and its Special Force were effective in the dynamics of the conflict, and in the development of institutional roles. and the constitutional mission carried out by the Colombian National Navy through the Marine Infantry, this group of Special Forces Operations has managed to evolve to become one of the spearhead units in the development of special naval operations carried out carried out in urban, rural, semi-urban, maritime and river scenarios, which by their nature are in constant dynamics, this is how the empowerment of the Marine Corps Special Forces has been achieved throughout history in the country.
