Regulations, Applicability, and Gaps of The Digital and Electronic Signature in Colombia

This article seeks to present a regulatory review of the figure of the digital and electronic signature in Colombia, starting from the legal and doctrinal definitions of what is considered a digital and electronic signature at the international level, exposing various considerations in this regard, to reach later the recitals that the legislator and national scholars have told on the subject.
Additionally, a description of the requirements established by the regulations is advanced to consider the digital signature valid and the electronic signature, ending with a series of
challenges faced by the use, applicability, and practice of the digital and electronic signature during business in Colombia.
