Sections

Editorial. They may be of scientific or opinion content. Scientific editorials suppose a rigorous update or an interesting point on a certain scientific topic. Opinion editorials are those that collect points of view or social and behavioral positions of the scientific community on a topic of common interest to researchers and health professionals.

Editorials will be commissioned by the Editorial Committee of the journal Biociencias, always using the authors with the most experience in the aspects to be discussed. They will have a maximum extension of 3 sheets and may include up to 4 figures or tables.

Article of scientific and technological research. Document that presents, in detail, the original results of completed research projects. The structure of the article should have the following sections: introduction, methodology, results, discussion, conclusions, bibliography (only bibliography cited in the text is included)

Reflection article. Document that presents the results of completed research from an analytical, interpretive or critical perspective of the author, on a specific topic, using original sources.

Review article. Document resulting from a completed investigation where the results of published or unpublished research are analyzed, systematized and integrated, on a field in science or technology, in order to account for progress and development trends.

Case report. Document that presents the results of a study on a particular situation in order to publicize the technical and methodological experiences considered in a specific case. It includes an annotated systematic review of the literature on similar cases.

Short article. Brief document that presents preliminary or partial original results of a scientific or technological investigation, which generally require prompt dissemination. The structure of the article should have the following four sections: introduction, methodology, results, discussion and conclusions.

Editor's letters. This section opens the possibility for readers to have a space where they can make brief comments in agreement or disagreement with aspects contained in the published works and that may be related to interpretations, concepts, methodologies, results, etc., on articles published in the Journal Biosciences.

Topic review. Document resulting from the critical review of the literature on a particular topic.

Reflection paper not derived from research. These types of documents are known in academia as essays. In general, they are writings that, through an identifiable structure, clearly state a topic, develop implications and present conclusions.
