Abstract

Placenta accreta is defined as the abnormal insertion of part or all of the placenta , with partial or complete ab- sence of the decidua basalis with penetration of the chorionic villi into the myometrium. Because it increases the maternal-fetal morbidity and mortality and its frequency has increased in recent decades , caused by the practice of cesarean section, this condition has attracted the attention of the World Health Organization. Antepartum diag- nosis is essential to reduce the catastrophic feature of this disorder. It is reported the case of a patient 32 years old, G3P1C1V2, with 37 weeks of gestation by ultrasound who consulted for cramping pain in lower abdomen radiating to the lumbar región; diagnosis of placenta accreta supported by MRI and ultrasound was performed. She underwent cesarean-hysterectomy and pathological s udy confirmed increta placenta. Currently the patient is in his convales- cence at home, with satisfactory outcome
