Abstract

Discussion in scientific articles is essential to contextualize findings and promote the advancement of knowledge, especially in the health sciences. Despite its importance, the discussion often lacks a comprehensive approach that links the results with the existing body of knowledge and considers their impact on the latter and on society. Therefore, this editorial proposes the need to adopt a systemic model for scientific discussion and argues the relevance of structuring this section under such an approach to improve its quality and relevance. This model is based on principles such as interdisciplinary integration, coherence with existing scientific knowledge and consideration of the impact of findings on society. In this way, it seeks to strengthen the discussion of an article, preparing it to make a more significant contribution to knowledge and its practical application.
