Tratamiento de Lixiviados en Rellenos Sanitarios
Abstract
ABSTRACT
Leachate occurs when moisture enters the garbage in a landfill, draws contaminants to the liquid phase and produces a moisture content high enough to initiate the movement of the liquid, it is characterized by a high chemical and biological demand for oxygen and generally consists of undesirable substances such as organic and inorganic pollutants. Leachate is highly contaminated and must be treated to avoid contamination of surface and groundwater, these leachates from landfills may differ depending on the content and age of the landfill content, degradation procedure, climate, and hydrological conditions. It is common to treat leachates through a combined treatment system which consists of physical, chemical, and biological techniques.
