Focus and Scope
Ingeniare is a journal established for the dissemination of the results of scientific research, basic or applied, carried out in the different areas of engineering and related sciences, issued every six months. The Journal is concerned with the publication of scientific articles, provided that they seek for scientific development in the fields of knowledge related to engineering.
Thus, Ingeniare aims to contribute to the dissemination and exchange of knowledge on the national and international scenario, opening a space for the visibility of the scientific production, also seeking its consolidation as a recognized source of reference within the academic and scientific community.
1. PEER REVIEW PROCESS
All papers received in INGENIARE are sent to double-blind evaluation of academic peers in order to ensure the transparency of the editorial process. The following describes the steps of the review process:
1. The paper is received by the editor via email or by the Open Journal System (OJS).
2. The editor determines whether the paper complies with the guidelines for authors. If it does, it is subjected to plagiarism analysis. If it does not comply, the paper is returned to the author (s) to be corrected and submitted again.
3. If the paper passes the analysis of plagiarism, the author is officially notified of the receipt and it is presented to the Editorial Committee of the journal for the appointment of peers, according to its area. Otherwise, the paper is rejected and the decision is officially notified to the author(s). In case of any inconvenience related to plagiarism, this will be handled according to the Code of Ethics of INGENIARE journal.
4. Each of the peers is sent the paper without detail of the author(s), along with the evaluation format and its delivery terms. The peers will evaluate according to the quality criteria set by INGENIARE journal and he/she can issue three types of concept:
a. Accepted: Under this concept, the paper is accepted in its entirety, as presented by the author(s)
b. Accepted subject to corrections: Under this concept, the author (s) must make the corrections indicated by at least one of the evaluating peers for the paper to be publishable.
c. Rejected: Under this concept, the paper does not meet the minimum quality criteria to be considered publishable
5. Once the evaluating peers issue the concept, the procedure is as follows:
a. Accepted: In case the concept of "Accepted" is granted by both evaluating peers, the author (s) is notified of the acceptance decision in writing and the paper editing process is continued in the aspects of style, layout and shape correction.
b. Accepted subject to corrections: If at least one of the evaluators considers that the paper is "Accepted subject to corrections", the author (s) will be sent corrections for review and its application, setting a deadline for delivery. Once the author (s) remit the corrected paper, it is again submitted for review to the evaluating peer (s) who made the corrections, who will have the opportunity to re-issue a concept as described In paragraph 5. This iteration is done in an opportunity, where the pairs must issue a definitive concept.
c. Rejected: With respect to this concept may occur the following:
i. Rejected by one of the peers: If one of the peers rejects and the other grants a different concept, the Editorial Committee proceeds to assign a third peer, who will evaluate the paper under the same criteria shown in
paragraph 5. If the new peer issues the concept of "Rejected", the paper will be considered definitively rejected and will be officially notified in writing of this decision to the author (s). Otherwise, the author (s) must make the corrections indicated.
ii. Rejected by both peers: If the evaluating peers, in the first instance, consider that the paper should be rejected, the author (s) will be notified of this decision definitively.
6. Upon receipt of the notification of acceptance, author(s) will be asked to submit documentation related to the assignment of publication rights to INGENIARE journal. In the event of any conflict of interest or an ethical misconduct on the part of the author (s), it will be solved in accordance with the INGENIARE Code of Ethics, as the case may be.
CODE OF ETHICS
INGENIARE is a scientific publication for all areas of engineering, which is published every six months. All works are subject to a double-blind peer review process, without exception. All authors wishing to publish in the INGENIARE Journal must express in writing the original and unpublished character of the submitted manuscript, as well as explicitly expressing their acceptance of the journal's ethics policies, considering and avoiding the following cases:
1. Redundant publications 2. Plagiarism 3. Altered or false data 4. Conflict of interests
I. REDUNDANT PUBLICATIONS In the cover letter of each paper submitted for evaluation, authors must state explicitly that it has not been published in whole or in part in another scientific journal. In case of the extension of a paper already published, it must be declared in the submitted work.
Redundancy in the papers presented to INGENIARE journal can be detected in manuscript status, by one of the peer reviewers, or as a published article, by a reader of the journal. In any case, before the indictment of redundancy, the Editorial Committee will proceed to carry out the respective investigation. In case of finding redundancy, the authors will be contacted, who must submit a written justification of the scope of the redundancy found, the admission of the fault or the rejection of the indictment. The Editorial Committee will study the disclaimer presented by the author (s).
a. If it is an paper under review: If the explanation presented is satisfactory, the manuscript will be rejected and the author (s) will be notified.
b. If it is a published article: If the explanation presented is satisfactory, the author (s) will be notified and they will be asked for a letter to be retracted, to be published in the journal.
In any case where the authors do not respond to the requirements of the Editor or the Editorial Committee, the entity where the author(s) has/have registered affiliation will be contacted to notify the case and request contact information from each of the authors.
II. PLAGIARISM All manuscripts submitted for consideration in INGENIARE Journal must adequately refer to all bibliographic sources used, including graphics, tables, illustrations or any other, clearly indicating the source when dealing with third parties, in accordance with the guidelines of the current “IEEE Citation Reference” (See guidelines for authors). When submitting the work to the Journal, authors must ensure in writing that the text has been properly reviewed to avoid plagiarism.
All the works received by the Editorial Committee are subject to a revision of coincidences with respect to other works. If plagiarism is not detected, the work is assigned peer evaluators according to their theme, to continue with the evaluation process. If plagiarism is detected in a manuscript, it is proceeded as follows:
a. Evident plagiarism [i.e. Presentation of a long piece of text or data without explicit attribution to the original source (s), presenting it as its own]: The editor will contact the author, notifying him of the rejection of the paper along with the evidence of plagiarism. The Editorial Committee will evaluate the possibility of notifying the case to the entity to which the authors report affiliation as well as to the author (s) of the text object of plagiarism.
b. Minor plagiarism [i.e. Small fragments of text or phrases where the ill-cited reference (s) appear]. The Editor will contact the author (s), requesting the corresponding corrections. Once they are received, if corrections are satisfactory, the editorial process will be continued. Otherwise, the article will be rejected definitively and the author (s) of the manuscript will be notified of the decision.
In case plagiarism is detected after the publication of the article, the Editorial Committee will consider the actions to be taken in accordance with what COPE has indicated, which includes, but is not limited to:
• Publication of a retraction by the authors • Inform the authors of the original text about plagiarism and actions to be carried out • Inform the institution to which the author (s) is/are affiliated with the case of plagiarism
III. ALTERED OR FALSE DATA
Every paper submitted for consideration in INGENIARE Journal must be based on real data and truthful information obtained by the author (s) and indicating when data from secondary or tertiary sources are provided, explicitly mentioning the source. Likewise, data should be given objective and scientific treatment, without subjecting them to any kind of procedure that would alter or bias them to show results favorable to the research, when in fact, they show results partially or totally deviating from the objective of the presented research. If the peer reviewers of a manuscript or the readers of the article already published suspect that a work was based on false or adulterated data, they must notify the editor of INGENIARE Journal, in which case they will proceed to investigate under the criteria that the COPE poses.
5. CONFLICT OF INTERESTS
All manuscripts submitted to INGENIARE for review must include a statement signed by all authors stating that both the research and the paper to be published do not present a conflict of interest [i.e. with the institution that funds the study or institution to which the authors are
affiliated]. In case of detecting a conflict of interests on the part of the reviewers of the article, in the manuscript status, or of denouncing by some reader, in the event that the article is published, the Editorial Committee of the journal will proceed according to the guidelines indicated by the COPE
